Went thru training to be a director for Story Pirates-- did my training in NYC and LA so i am SUPER special.  :)

Bought an electronic drum kit.  THIS COUNTS AS AN UPDATE, OK???  I love it.

DECEMBER
Booked a commercial for the Israeli Lottery-- yes, like in ISRAEL.  חש גד נו יורק.  היה מאוד מאוד כיף!!!

Performed in the Story Pirates Afterdark show (adults only!), and directed my first Story Pirates show.

Performed in the musical "Plymouth Rock" created by Michael Lutton and Roman Pietrs and originated by musical improv team THEM.

2012--I won awards, booked commercials, did a ton of improv+sketch, did some hosting, got to perform musicals, worked on spectacular shoots, and met so many fabulous people.  Amaze-balls!  Thank you to everyone who made it possible!!  I did not do it alone!!!

Listen.  I have really fallen off of keeping this thing updated!  So here's a quick rundown of all the big stuff I can remember that I've done since the beginning of the year!

--Shot a web commercial for Microsoft, directed by Will Graham of The Onion
--Was placed on a Wednesday night house team at the PIT
--Began performing with THEM, fabulous PIT musical house team
--Was cast in a TV commercial for the Broadway musical, "Sister Act"
--Was chosen to be part of the cast for the PIT SNL Fantasy Camp sketch show, performing to sold-out audiences
--Produced and performed in 2 Zoeshows, alongside several fantastic guests!
--Became a resident playwright for aMios's "Shotz", having written 3 short plays, including one that will continue to be developed
--Performed with Story Pirates, including in the Mainstage show, on Sirius Satellite Radio for the Absolutely Mindy show, and in Los Angeles in the Mainstage and Afterdark shows
--Worked on a Columbia MFA project, including an in-class performance and a shoot
--Co-hosted a fundraising event for a Brooklyn Preschool
--Was invited by Kristen Schaal to play a small role in a developmental showing of her upcoming Comedy Central special
--Shot a music video for Dave Hill's new book  "Tasteful Nudes"
--Was cast as a drug-dealing Cleveland junkie in the 3-character  "Geeked and Loaded" at the West Village Musical Theatre Festival
...and finally, was composer, co-bookwriter, co-lyricist for "Preschool!  A Pint-Sized Musical", Part of the West Village Musical Theatre Festival, in which I also played spastic, peanut butter-obsessed 4-year-old Marty.  "Preschool!"  swept the awards in our series, winning:
Best Book
Best Lyrics
Best Score
Best Song (The Peanut Butter Song-- which Marty sings!)
Best Director
Best Musical
...AND, based on a panel of industry votes + audience votes,
I won BEST ACTRESS of the ENTIRE FESTIVAL!!!

So, 2012 is going pretty well so far.  :)

Next up... I was cast in LEGALLY BLONDE at the White Plains Performing Arts Center/ Harrison Summer Theater!!! Stay tuned!!!

Yeah.  I know.  How did i even GET so behind on this blog?  Maybe it's because i've been busy- HEYO!!!
(I have.)

SEPTEMBER
~The last weekend in July I made it onto a PIT House Team.  Yay!  We named ourselves TrapDoor, and  we continued to perform long-form improv comedy every Monday night!!
~I made my most outrageous appearance to date in Kurt Braunohler's Night of the Living-- as a giant baby in a giant Baby Bjorn strapped to Kurt for the whole opening monologue!!!  I seriously cannot wait to get those pix.

OCTOBER
~I was a featured dancer in the music video "Awkward" by The Vigilante.  Check it out here!
~In addition to performing with TrapDoor, I was invited to perform with Hello & Epic Beards, the PIT's first two musical improv house teams!!!
~In personal news, two of my longtime students had their Bar/Bat Mitzvahs!!!  They chanted beautifully.  Awwwww :)

NOVEMBER
~I performed in Times Square and on the High Line in Tyler Ashley's "Half-Mythical, Half-Legendary Americanism", a dance theatre piece produced as part of Performa11, a biennial performing arts festival.  Check out a review of our piece on Whitewallmag.com!
~A mish-mash of everything: TrapDoor, Epic Beards, Story Pirates, Night of the Living... and a trip home to Saint Louis for Thanksgiving!

DECEMBER -- hold on to your hats...
~I booked TWO projects that I auditioned for in ONE day!!! I shot a web commercial for MD Connect and played a well-meaning but ditzy receptionist... and I sang and danced in new web content for Skinny Cow: the shoot was an outdoor, one-shot, two minute music video with my new friends at And Now Media!!!
~I was hired as the new online host for CheapNYC TV-- a website for free and Cheap things to do in NYC.  We have already shot two projects: one at SantaCon and one on the Staten Island Ferry!
~I did another Zoeshow: LIVE!  in conjunction with aMios (theatre company).
~Hot Damn: My PIT team TrapDoor had Daily Show correspondent Wyatt Cenac as a guest performer. Not a bad way to close out 2011!!!  :)

Should my new year's resolution be to update this blog a LITTLE more often??
Ha!  We shall see... ;-)

Holdin' on to August...

Oh boy, I do NOT want the summer to be over-- it's my favorite season!

The big news is that I was selected to be on a new house team at The People's Improv Theatre, aka The PIT!  Our team, TrapDoor, performs every Monday night at 8pm, and it's free!  So far we've been having lots of fun-- what better way to start your week?  Like us on Facebook for updates!

The other exciting update is that mid-month I headed out to New Jersey to shoot a Pilot for Investigation Discovery (yes, like The Discovery Channel).  I played a gothed-out girl whose father is found dead, which means lots of eye makeup and black clothes.  Check out the pictures on my photo page!

Oh-- and I did a hard-hitting journalistic report on Hurricane Irene-- though it ravaged other places, here in NYC there wasn't much to speak of despite the unprecedented closing of the subways and a lot of hype-- check out my take on it!

Wow!  March was an exciting month.

On 3/18 I made my  television debut on episode 10 of The Onion News Network on the Independent FIlm Channel (IFC), as part of the Damaged Women's Coalition!
For a limited time, check it out here!
I was also chosen to be featured in the promotional materiel for the episode, as well as at the end of Episode 9 in the teaser for the following week!

Meanwhile, for most of March, I was consumed with writing an entire MUSICAL that was performed in a reading at The Tank on 3/18 and 3/20.
I adapted the script, write the music, and directed it!  I was the only female director in the series.  The show was funny with rockin' music!
Read the Broadway World postinghere!

Cast: Steven Charles, Heather Jewels, Kimberly Rae Miller, Elisa Pupko, Dana Shapiro, Amanda Van Nostrand, Rebecca Vigil.   Veronica Garcia-Melendez on Keys.
